Patriotism is quite simply the feeling of affection towards your home country. Whatever country you are from, you always feel it towards that country. Every language on the planet has a term of affection for their country. And every country has something to be patriotic about. The United States surpasses all of these. In the United States we are not only patriotic because were born here. In the United States we have reasons to be patriotic far beyond country of origin. We would like to share with you some of the reasons we think we as Americans should be patriotic.

1. The country designed to be free. With all the unrest worldwide and people and nations striving to be free, we are reminded of how cherished freedom is. In fact, back at the foundation of the United States we were the first of many nations to revolt against the old ways. This strive for freedom has been infectious to the world, and a magnet to its people for a very long time. The freedom that we have is the biggest reason to be patriotic.
2. The country has opportunities for all. Unlike many places on our beautiful planet success in the United States is not determined by your birth. It is determined by your effort. In the United States every single man, woman and child are afforded the same opportunities for success. In United States we truly believe that all men are created equal and that man's effort sets them apart. That opportunity deserves our patriotism.
3. The country is designed to be protected. We as a nation understand that to be protected there needs to be a strong deterrent from attack. As one of our presence famously said “walk quietly and carry a big stick.” He was in the first to share the sentiment. However his quote is one of the more famous ones. The protection that our country gives us should be enough to make us patriotic.
4. The country is protected. Those of us who are not in the military service, are afforded the same protection as those who are. We have a class of people who inspire patriotism by sacrificing their lives for the protection of their country and countrymen. Military service is voluntary in our country. Those who are in the military service do so because of honor, patriotism, and loyalty to our country.

“The tie-dye shirts are coming! The tie-dye shirts are coming!” Summers coming and the tie-dye's coming out of the drawer. It may not have been a call to revolution, but it was a symbol of a cultural revolution. The classic tie-dye, and many of its modern variations are popular in many parts of our great nation.

The classic tie-dye was a symbol of a new culture. It was made when a white shirt was died a numerous amount of different colors to symbolize freedom and nonconformity. The random colors and patterns work made "naturally" without the man's influence. The classic tie-dye was always made by hand, and designed to be bright and lacking in design.

Please keep in mind this was back in the ‘60s.

What else happened so long ago, the rock 'n roll revolution. Janis Joplin and John Sebastian popularized tie-dye shirts by warning them to their concerts. They did all their own tie-dye and it symbolized exactly what we described earlier. As the decade went by and by the tie-dye shirts were a staple of the counter-cultural movement.

Over the years major corporations and other causes adopted tie-dye shirts to serve their own purpose. Many companies used tie-dye as a base design for summer wear. This sometimes was viewed as “selling out” because tie-dyes are meant to be made yourself.

No matter what the tie-dye's symbolize, or don't symbolize they are part of our culture and history. No matter how far back to the origin of our country we always had a form of clothing that rebelled against the established. For example our first Army refused to wear red. That was a revolution against the British Army. The tie-dye revolution was against the conformist mindset.

There is no clear cut revolution with the current tie-dye shirts. Nonetheless we all have a history with them, we all have a memory of them, and we all have something to say about them. In the comments post some of your memories of tie-dye shirts.

We all reminisce about the good old days and about the quality that used to be. In the good old days (whether it be in the 80s, 90s or early 2000's) the comedians were truly funny. Most of the time it is just personal bias. When it comes to toys, the classics never go out of style.

This kid spent the first part of the summer playing video games, watching TV, and eating too much junk food, to the point that his parents decided to cut him off. The cruelty of going cold turkey from the 21st century entertainment. With no flashing lights, entertaining characters, stupid comedy lines, and catchy tunes, this child is quite literally going brain-dead.

Have no fear, classic toys are here. The parents recognized symptoms of chronic brain atrophy and decide to intervene with a toy from their attic, a simple yo-yo. This does not break the rule of no entertainment since it does not require a battery, and the yo-yo does not stop him from playing outside. What a transformation it is! A simple yo-yo, which is little more than a piece of wood, a length of yarn, and a 

splash paint is capable of both entertaining and stimulating that child's brain and indefinitely.

The two examples I gave are hardly the limit. Whoopee cushions and yo-yos are just a starting point. Classic toys range from action figures and dolls to the classic board games, like a certain game based on the Napoleonic Wars. They are historically proven to stimulate your brain, enhance your imagination, develop logic and reasoning, and just in general be able to enrich your life.
